Former President Trump received a warm welcome from the crowd at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, which erupted into cheers when his name was announced as the evening’s special guest.

Trump served as guest commentator at the Triller Fight Club event Saturday on September 11th, where Evander Holyfield versus Bitor Belforen.

Trump and his son, Donald Trump Jr, are acting as boxing commentators for Holyfield’s Triller Fight Club battle with UFC great Vitor Belfort in Florida on Sunday (AEST).

In comments before the first fight, the ex-president acknowledged the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

“As a country this is certainly one of the most important days. We had a very bad week because of some very bad decisions that were made,” Trump said at the start of the live boxing telecast.

“It made it even more sombre than it should normally be. I will tell you, we love our country and we’re going to do great things for our country and our country is going to come back. We should never have allowed what happened to Afghanistan with 13 great warriors and many people injured and many people killed in this final few days and it was just a shame,” he continued.

“But we’re a great country and we’re going to make a comeback like nobody has ever seen before,” Trump added.

Trump Jr. said on the broadcast that while he and his dad’s involvement in the event came together rather quickly and takes place during a sensitive time, the opportunity seemed like “a bit of levity” on a “somber day.”

“We came in sort of last minute,” he said. “Obviously we have such a special and important day, a somber day, but to be able to have a bit of levity in that is so important and so American.”

The former President made a surprise visit with New York City police and firemen in the early hours of Sunday morning to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
