The Marine Corps announced Thursday that it is looking into the Marine Hunter Clark who saved an Afghan baby by lifting it over a wall at Hamid Karzai International Airport after he appeared at a rally with former President Donald Trump.

Who is Marine Lance Corporal Hunter Clark?
Lance Corporal Hunter Clark was one of nearly 6,000 U.S. troops tasked with guarding the airport last month as thousands of desperate people tried to get in to escape the Taliban. On Sept. 25, Clark appeared on stage with Trump for just under a minute at a “Save America Rally” in Perry, Georgia.
Clark introduced himself as “the guy that pulled the baby over the wall,” adding that “it’s definitely probably one of the greatest things I’ve done in my entire life.”
The Marine continued, saying “I just want to thank all the support from all y’all. It really means a lot and I’m glad to be home now.”
A picture of him went viral as he helped save a baby being lifted up by an Afghan outside of the airport walls.

At one point, Clark reached over a razor-wire-lined wall to pick up a baby being handed over by a desperate mother. The heartfelt moment of compassion at Kabul airport was a direct contrast with the abrupt withdrawal overseen by the Biden administration, which put thousands of American citizens and Afghan allies at mortal risk of Taliban reprisals.
Why is he under investigation?
The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit cannot confirm if Clark is one of the other Marines in that video, said Capt. Kelton J Cochran, a spokesman for the 24th MEU. Cochran also noted that there were several incidents during the evacuation of Afghans handing children to U.S. troops.
Now Clark’s command is looking into whether he violated the military’s ban on active-duty troops engaging in partisan political activity.
“The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) has initiated a command investigation regarding LCpl Hunter Clark’s attendance at the event last weekend to determine if any DoD policies were violated,” 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit spokesperson Capt. Kelton Cochran said in a statement. “Any details pertaining to this incident are not releasable while the investigation is being conducted.”
The Defense Department prohibits active-duty service members from actively campaigning for political candidates and from speaking “before a partisan political gathering, including any gathering that promotes a partisan political party, candidate, or cause.”
Did Hunter Clark violate any ban of the military?
However, Hunter Clark did not endorse Trump and was not in uniform at the time he took the stage for what appeared to be an impromptu appearance. “You saw him, he did a great job, Lance Cpl. Hunter Ian Clark,” Trump told the crowd. “Lance corporal, get up here!”
“Hey, my name is Lance Corporal Hunter Clark, and I’m here from Warner Robins, Georgia,” Clark told the crowd during his brief speech. “I am the guy who pulled the baby over the wall, and it’s definitely probably one of the greatest things I’ve done in my entire life.”
The U.S. military, meanwhile, is turning a blind eye to the social media ravings of Woke soldiers, such as Staff Sergeant Cindy Bronson, who appeared in uniform in several Tik Tok videos and threatened American citizens who did not comply with her orders under a hypothetical scenario of martial law.

It seems, however, that the military is increasingly cracking down on the behavior of soldiers.
Earlier, Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Scheller was relieved of command after he posted a video to Facebook critical of higher up military leadership and demanding they take responsibility for Kabul falling to the Taliban in the withdrawal.
He is currently being held at the Brig on Camp Lejeune, a Marine Corps base in North Carolina. 36 members of Congress signed letter calling for Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller’s immediate release from grim military brig.
