Devin Nunes, a Republican from California, has been all over Special Counsel John Durham’s Russia investigation, and he expects major action to be taken.
He appeared on Fox Business to discuss the investigation’s status and Durham’s recent indictment.
Nunes, who previously claimed that a number of former senior Obama administration officials could face prison time, said he was pleased to see Durham making serious progress in the investigation.
“We’ve made 14 criminal referrals to the Department of Justice. I expect every one of those to be looked into. For God sake, the American people, the taxpayers pay for us to do this work. We don’t have guns here in Congress, we can’t go out and arrest people,” he said.
“All we can do is do an exhaustive investigation which we’ve done despite being stonewalled by the Department of Justice. We’ve done our job, now we expect Durham to do his job, which I think he is doing…” he said.

Michael Sussmann was charged with lying to FBI lawyer James Baker during a 2016 meeting about who he was representing when he gave the bureau information about Donald Trump and Russia.
Sussman reportedly relayed to the FBI during this meeting the debunked theory that the Trump Organization was communicating with Alfa Bank.
“Any indictment of the lawyer — Michael Sussmann, a former federal prosecutor and now a partner at the Perkins Coie law firm, and who represented the Democratic National Committee on issues related to Russia’s 2016 hacking of its servers — is likely to attract significant political attention, the New York Times reported.
The NYT states: “Mr. Baker, the former F.B.I. lawyer, is said to have told investigators that he recalled Mr. Sussmann saying that he was not meeting him on behalf of any client.”
Sussman’s testimony to Congress and his own billing records told a different story.
Sussman’s attorneys have even admitted that “they expected him to be indicted.”
Durham convened a grand jury in 2020 to investigate the false Alfa Bank/Trump Organization story.
Nunes argued a month ago that he expects Durham to release a “damaging report” on the FBI’s failed investigation into Donald Trump’s alleged ties with Russia.
Nunes stated that he believes people will go to prison as a result of Durham’s investigation.
“I’m still positive, and I guess I have to be, that people are going to go to jail, and they are going to be prosecuted for the Russia grand fiasco and the Russia hoax,” he said.
